Five Point Breastplate
The Five point breastplate made by Five Star Tack. No cheap sheep pom-poms to fall apart here, FST is using high-quality English leather padding on all five points that’s soft to the touch and forms to your horse’s contours. 100% English Sedgwick leather tanned using vegetable oils means you will be receiving a 5 point breastplate made of the highest quality English leather available.
Due to the rising costs of English Leather, Five Star Tack has limited the manufacturing of this breastplate. Backorders will take up to 2 months to fulfill.

Quality Control
We hear a lot about “quality control” from those who have been in the tack business for a while. What does that even mean? We believe responsible sourcing, being as environmentally friendly as tanning can be and thorough inspections by humans before the product is ever seen by your horse is the key to quality control. These elements are all found at the JE Sedgwick leather company where Five Star Tack gets its leather for this Five Point Breastplate. Unlike our first (and last) order from Collegiate (a brand owned by WeatherBeeta), you won’t receive a breastplate that looks like the manufacturing company doesn’t know the horses head from its rear end.
Benefits of a Five Point Breastplate
The overarching objective of a breastplate is to keep the saddle centered / where you want it. Breastplates of all types attempt to do this. A Five Point breastplate will help you keep your girth more forward, preventing it from slipping back. The 5 point design will naturally distribute the pressure over a larger area than a breastplate with just a couple of points of contact. It could also be said that 5 point breastplates don’t put as much pressure on the tree of the saddle when you jump.

Stunning, simple, functional, and robust, I cannot say enough about this breastplate!! With an ever rotating barn full of OTTB’s and Warmbloods I need tack that lasts, that I can trust to not only stay in place for XC but also not to break when I’m starting my young horses, that can clean up for the show ring, and that is very adjustable (and easily). This breast plate not only met but far exceeded my expectations, first off it is simply stunning from hardware to stitching, it beautifully fits not only my 16.1 OTTB but also my 17.1 Oldenburg (and all those in between), and the quality and craftsmanship gives me great confidence on course and for the first time on the young ones!
