Pelham Bits

Pehlam bits are the great compromise between the action of a snaffle and the effects of a curb bit. Pelhams are a double rein bit or a single rein bit if you convert using a rounding. In two rein configuration, the top rein goes to the snaffle and the bottom rein goes to the curb. Pelhams have shanks of different lengths making them a leverage bit. Pelhams are made with different mouthpieces and the materials used range from nylon, plastic, rubber and metal. A pelham is stronger than snaffles because of the leverage available to the rider. When converted using a pelham bit converter, the bit acts more like a Kimberwicke.
