Wide Rubber Reins – 1 Inch Wide Rubber

Wide rubber reins with hook stud ends. Built by Red Barn, these traditional rubber reins feature 3/4 inch wide English leather running throughout. The rubber is one inch wide from side to side and 5cm thick. You could simply describe these as wide, thin rubber reins. The rubber is very slip resistant with small pimples. The rubber is serrated on the sides and bumpy on top for maximum grip without being clingy. You can still slip these reins, unlike many “super grip” reins that don’t release. Grip remains the same/similar in wet or dry conditions. Even getting your horses sweat on these reins won’t completely ruin their stickability like many alternative rubber types. The leather core provides durability and an increase in flexibility over time. Nearly invisible stitching runs down the center of each side of the reins, anchoring the leather core to the outside rubber. There is a “break-in” period for these reins of at least a few rides.

Red Barn has been making these reins in the since the 80s. The company also makes a more mainstream 1/2 inch and 5/8 inch wide rein in various lengths. Red Barn also makes pony reins (pony length or short neck horse length).

All these reins come with enough leather at your end for a fair sized knot to tie.
