Fitting your Horze SPF Shirt

The Trista long sleeve sun shirt comes in many sizes. All sizes feature a longer torso & arms than a non-equestrian type UV shirt. That being said, these tend to run big for smaller people and small for larger people. If that doesn’t help, rest assured that we do complementary exchanges so if the first size doesn’t work, we’ll exchange it for a new size. A well-fitting sun shirt will preserve the UPF rating – too tight of a shirt will actually reduce the rating.

  • No hassle size exchanges
  • Less “form-fitting” / tight will preserve the UPF rating
    • a tight shirt will be less effective at blocking UV

Caring for your Long Sleeve Sun Shirt

Washing your Trista shirt isn’t complicated but the way you care for it may increase or decrease its UPF rating. Using a detergent with a brightener assumably increases UPF ratings. That’s not always the case. UPF rating is a controlled process, using a certain fabric under certain conditions. Simply using an off the shelf brightener might be a waste of your money. For this particular garment, the best way to get the full UPF rating out of it is to wear the correct size.

  • Wash in cool water with like colors, do not use fabric softener
  • Regular washing will not reduce the UPF rating
