Horseshoe Studs

Horseshoe Studs made in the UK by SupaStud. SupaStud Horseshoe Studs use hardened steel that is tougher than tungsten but much lighter. SupaStuds are self-cleaning, a feature that earned them the prestigious “Innovations Award for Safety and Security” by BETA in 2005 (the year of their introduction).

From mud studs to road studs, SupaStuds has a stud for all conditions.

  • Self Cleaning for safer, easier installation
  • 3/8th-inch English thread (standard Whitworth)
    • Your ferrier has this tap size
  • Designed with input from many 4* riders
  • Do not require a special type of horseshoe
  • Made of hardened stainless steel
    • Rust -resistant
    • Extremely durable
  • “Mix and match” the right combinations for your conditions
    • Sometimes courses start with horses in small road studs and end with them in deep footing grass studs!

Tougher Than Tungsten

SupaStud horseshoe studs use hardened stainless steel. The high tech hardening process produces a steel that is more durable than tungsten but much lighter weight. Hardened steel becomes extremely rust resistant making these horseshoe studs last much longer than others.

Self Cleaning (NOT Self-Tapping)

A gap runs down the threads of the SupaStud. This gap allows dirt to pass out of the stud as it’s screwed into your horseshoe. This removal of dirt from the hole as the stud is screwed in is called self-cleaning. It can save you a ton of time when getting your horse ready or a quick change of studs is required due to a change in the footing. It’s also a safety feature that helped win these studs the prestigious BETA award for “Safety and Security”.

PRO Tip-In the book, World Class Grooming by Cat Hill and Emma Ford, preparing of stud holes are explained. The authors recommend cleaning out stud holes a day before you need them. “This way there is no panic at the show when you realize you have cross-threading or there’s a small annoying stone stuck in the hole”.

We recommend cotton, rubber or the SupaStud travel stud for keeping your stud holes clean and properly threaded.

NEW Horseshoe Studs

Based upon feedback from riders all over the world, we’re proud to introduce two new horseshoe studs this year:

Long Bullet Stud

The SupaStuds long bullet stud is designed specifically for deep footing. At approximately 19mm long this shoe stud is for those who want a rounded, big stud for muddy footing. Not recommended for use on ponies or on most horse front shoes.  Most riders use this stud on the inside and in combination with a large conical on the outside. Rounded studs can prevent injury when compared to pointed studs but still be cautious about inside studs and always use protective boots.

Medium Dressage Stud

The new medium dressage stud measures slightly larger than the 14mm small dressage stud. An all around great stud option for dressage, cross country and show jumping when you’re working on firm ground.
