About MIPS Safety System
MIPS is the name of a company that manufactures a safety system designed for helmets. The system was developed with the intention of reducing rotational motion to the brain in the event of a fall or crash. Research indicates that rotational motion poses a higher risk of brain damage when compared to direct impacts. In our product descriptions, we refer to MIPS as the MIPS Safety System and its purpose is to enhance safety in such accidents.
Everything revolves around the MIPS low friction layer. It mimics the brain’s own protective system, which allows the brain to move slightly inside the head. The MIPS system is designed to work on the same principle.

About the Certifications
This horse riding helmet is both SEI and ASTM certified. SEI is the Safety Equipment Institute. SEI is a not for profit organization that provides certification services for a variety of protective equipment, including head protective products like this one. SEI coordinates and administers product certification programs by selecting appropriate standards, quality auditors and testing labs.
ASTM is a global standards organization that convenes volunteers from various fields to review and modify standards, including those for protective headgear like this equestrian riding helmet. These standards are used worldwide.
MIPS is not a certification but rather a technology safety system designed for helmets. Its goal is to reduce rotational motion in the event of a fall or crash. Such motion can pose a higher risk of brain damaged compared to straight impacts.
This helmet is NOT rated for cycling or motor vehicle use
